Hello, I am back again! Time for the week three update! I really need to get more organised with these posts... Obviously I don't need to do them but I just like them as it gives me an easy way to look back at the litter. Of course, as it's my first litter it's extra exciting so I want to document as much as I can. It also gives me a baseline for what to expect with future litters.
I was really looking forward to week three as I'd seen many breeders say it was one of their favourite weeks. Having now been through it, I can certainly see why!

Day 15 - 06/04/20 |
On Monday morning I was very happy to come down and see that that the little RT doe had now opened both her eyes, along with Denty one of the Topaz bucks. By the end of the day, all of the Russian Topaz kittens had eyes that were starting to open but there was also one or two of the Topaz whose eyes appeared to be remaining firmly shut! With their eyes open, they definitely seemed more interesting in exploring which was very cute to see. Monday was also my boyfriend's birthday so I didn't spend much time with the babies after work as we had our own little mini party. Even so, I did manage a quick cuddle resulting in the above photo of the little toothy kitten!

Day 16 - 07/04/20 |
By Tuesday morning all of the little ones had their eyes open! I'm amazed I still managed to get a decent photo of them altogether. I brought them upstairs for a cuddle whilst I was working and one of them decided to have a right chomp on my finger! They were definitely figuring out how to use their teeth by this point... My sister has decided to claim little Denty as her own, although I have frequently reminded her that he may not be staying. I also set up their Alaska cage with a wheel, ropes and toys ready for when they started properly exploring and climbing!

Day 17 - 08/04/20 |
Just look at that little smiling face, aren't they the cutest?! I've no idea which kitten this is but I can't look at this photo without smiling. On Wednesday they started using the wheel properly and I found them chewing the cuttle bone which was fab. I also may have got unnecessarily excited when I found a kitten in the litter tray just because they'd got off ground level! As they were starting to eat proper food (and it was the usual vitamin day) I thought I'd give them all some scrambled egg. I cooked the egg and then Keera reminded me I could add some tasty extras so I mixed in some salmon oil, seaweed powder and garlic granules. However, the babies wouldn't touch it and even Flora - who usually goes mad for scrambled egg - turned her nose up at it!

On day 18 I noticed that I although I could no longer see the dent on Denty's head, I could still feel it. It doesn't seem to have affected him in any way as he appears to have developed just as well as all the other kittens. I took some individual photos as it had been a while since my last lot and they're all just so gorgeous! I tried making some Vitalin for them in the evening as that is another popular kitten food and yet again, nobody wanted it...

Day 19 - 10/04/20 |
Day 19 and what a fab day it was - the babies had their first free-range! I set up a little pen and put in some tubes, hides, bridges, balls and a dish of water. I'm pleased to say that Flora and Custard have made some very brave little ones as they set off running and exploring straight away! The only slightly more cautious one was actually Denty who sat in my lap for a bit before going to join his siblings. I can't say they were a fan of the water but there's plenty of time for that! Back in the cage, Flora appeared to have decided that she wasn't happy with the babies running everywhere as she had built a massive nest to keep them in!

Day 20 - 11/04/20 |
Saturday was another happy-dance day as in the morning I found all the kittens sleeping together in the hammock for the first time ever! They were obviously started to climb about a bit more and I couldn't wait to see them running and jumping all over the place. I again tried giving them some wet food, this time vitalin, rice and kale. Yet again, they all refused it! Have I created the fussiest rats ever??

Day 21 - 12/04/20 |
Day 21 and it was Easter time! With the nice weather, we spent a lot of time just sitting in the garden so I brought the babies out with for a cuddle in my bonding scarf. Little Blue boy decided to explore briefly before sticking his nose into my hand and lying there like an idiot (see first photo of day 21). The last two photos are of my gorgeous girlies who will be staying with me. I also did their weekly weigh in which was as follows:
Russian Topaz Doe - 59g
Russian Topaz Buck Purple - 57g
Russian Topaz Buck Blue - 60g
Topaz Doe - 56g
Topaz Buck Red - 54g
Topaz Buck Green - 55g
I was pleased to see that they're all growing at roughly the same weight and that there's approximately a 20g increase from the previous week for all of them. I'm so incredibly happy with these amazing babies and I can't wait to see what the next week brings!
