Introducing My Rats

Hello and welcome to the brand new blog for Roman Rattery! I didn't really plan to make a blog but I wanted some sort of website thing (because I like to make things busier for myself? Who knows!) and I knew how to use blogger because of my nail art hobby...so here we are! I don't really intend to post regularly but we'll see what happens. Obviously to start with, I thought it best to introduce the current residents!

First up we have my gorgeous girls from Bayo Rattery in Newton Abbot. Stacey (the breeder) is amazing and I'm so pleased to call her a good friend. She is also supporting me as I begin my own breeding venture so I'm incredibly lucky! I got a trio of girls from her; two Russian Blue Agouti Essex and one Russian Topaz. The two RBA's are called Juno and Vesta (V for short) and the Russian Topaz is Flora. Flora, for those that don't know, is the wonderful doe that I am breeding to hopefully get my first litter. Both Flora and Juno have won Best in Show at an NFRS show so I'm incredibly proud - although I obviously can't take all the credit as Stacey bred them!

My other girls are from Muggle Rattery owned by Anny in Melksham. I got these three in December so they're still fairly young and absolutely nuts! Iana is a Black Berkshire, Cybele is a Russian Buff Berkshire and Pomona is Russian Blue. Iana did really well at her first show winning Best Opposite Age which was amazing and unexpected. Cybele is my one and only dumbo rat and she is such a sweetheart with the cutest face. She's one of the only ones that I can sit on the sofa for hours with. We've literally fallen asleep together before haha! Pomona is a lovely looking rat but doesn't sit still and needs to learn how to trim her nails so she doesn't scratch me to pieces!

So, that's it really. Pretty short and sweet! I'm sure once I start having litters my numbers will grow pretty rapidly. I'm also looking forward to having boys as permanent residents for the first time! Every time I go to a rat show I still get shocked by how big the bucks are so hopefully I'll get used to them soon.

Although I said I don't plan to post often (busy woman and all that!), do let me know if there's anything you'd like to see.
